Thomas Stanesby Jr. (1692-1754) was the son of Thomas Stanesby Sr. (1668-1734). Both were famous instrument makers in their own time.
My Stanesby Jr.-copy alto is based on a original from the collection of Michel Piguet. It is a high- baroque instrument at the end of the development of the recorder. It is very equal over all of its range and technically functions very well, in the low as well in the high register. Because its being so well balanced, it is a very good "all purpose" instrument.
The alto recorder in 440Hz And the G-alto recorder in 415Hz are based on the same original and I have tried to stay as close as possible to the original character of the instrument.
